Another Heart Canvas

Hello, how are you? I'm still feeling quite inspired by Valentine's Day and by hearts in general right now.  I made another heart canvas for my sister for her birthday.  I am going to enter it into the Flying Unicorn's heart challenge, as well as the mixed media challenge for Berry 7 Bleu.  Thanks for stopping by!

I started off with a 6x6 burlap covered canvas then adhered several strands of lace in white and cream then sprayed them lightly with mist.  I painted my heart white, then pink, then used a crackle medium over it.  I thought it was kinda too pink but I liked the way the crackling looked so I left it.  I sprayed and glittered the resin wings, added some chicken wire and the beautiful pendant and some buttons and small beads.  I hope my sister likes the way it came out!
Have a great day!

My pear inspiration book

Hi everyone, here is my current post up on the Genuinely Jane Studios Blog in partnership with  The Crafter's Workshop, this month we got to use their amazing stencils! I got this really sweet pear book in my recent DT pack, so I decided I would make a mixed media book filled with inspiring quotes for me to look at when I'm struggling or having a bad day.  I am showing my first page today.

I have used the Crafter's Workshop stencil #387 (spinning tops) with texture paste for the background and #398 (squiggles) for the leaf.  I used 13 Arts "Ayeeda" paint colored pistachio and matte mint. I then applied some sepia colored ink through the stencil on the leaf. Next I added a stamped sentiment and some trinkets with a little ribbon on the top. I really love the versatility and durability of the CW stencils, I just can't get enough of them!

Have a great day!

Good morning! Today I'd like to share a design team layout I made for Scrapping 4 Fun Challenge Blog.  Challenge #11 is all about monograms! I hope you will go check out the challenge and hopefully participate this month!  There are some really cool creations from some guest designers this time also.  Here is my layout featuring my cutie pie nephew:

The chipboard letters were pink so I altered them by first gessoing them, then painting them teal here and there, then finally adding some embossing powder in white/gold.
Hope to see your creations this month!

"Love canvas"

Hi guys, it's almost Valentine's Day...finally I made a canvas. It seems like all of these holidays are just sneaking up on me! I was inspired by 7 Dots Studio "geometrical shapes," and I've used circles and hearts as my chosen shapes.  I started out my canvas by adhering papers from the "Messy Head" collection, but they are pretty covered up now with paint and ink! I was also inspired by this picture from the "Colorful Creations" blog:
I love the bright pink color and the hearts.

Here is my 8X10 canvas I created:

I used gesso, modeling paste, lace, mesh tape, papers from 7 dots studio, spray ink by 13 Arts and Prima embellishments.  Also added some random hearts, buttons and chicken wire.  I am going to add this to the Berry 7 Bleu challenge for this month for all the mixed media I added.
Thanks for looking and have a great Valentines Day!!

Cruise ship mini for Genuinely Jane Studios

Good morning, have you ever been on a cruise? I just returned home from a 5 day cruise that sailed from Cape Caneveral, FL to the Bahamas and Castaway Cay (Disney's Island) and it was so much fun.  As luck would have it, my one remaining wood book from my design team box was the new cruise ship book! I decided to fill it with mementos from our trip and plan on also adding pictures when I get them printed. Here is the cover:

I painted the cover with Art Anthology, Ranger and Golden paints, then added a cut out of Mickey from a book that was in our stateroom.

On the second page I added a section of our daily newspaper and also our stateroom number from a room ticket.  The third page was in honor of the pirate themed night they had.  My girls dressed up as pirates and Disney put on a show and lit off fireworks right of the deck, so cool!

The next two pages represent two of the awesome shows we attended while on board, "Villains Tonight" and "The Golden Mickeys." I was lucky enough to snag some giant mickey eared gold confetti from the show so I added that also.

The first blue page shows the awesome Castaway Cay Island that Disney owns. We stole a few shells (even though the rules were against it but I am a shell freak) so I had to glue one of those on the page too.  The next page is to represent our dolphin experience at Atlantis on Paradise Island in the Bahamas.  I have wanted to do this forever, it was so cool to be so close to them.  I attached our tickets and wristbands, as well as a few pics of the resort and a dolphin of course.  I can't wait to get our family photos in the mail!
I had so much fun making this book, I wanted to create something that would remind us of all the fun things we got to do on the cruise.  My daughters love it so much and can't wait to show their friends what we did! If you are planning a cruise, have been on a cruise, have a friend who's been on a cruise...I HIGHLY recommend getting one of these super unique, fun albums to create a memory book that will surely be cherished for years to come!
Here is my last page:
On the back I mod podged some Bingo cards that we used to play with on the boat and a piece of our luggage tag.  I cut this picture of the ship out of our in room magazine, then applied the word "remember."  Have a great day!
